Photo from Flickr under a CC-BY-NC-ND license. https://www.flickr.com/photos/cambridgeuniversity-engineering/5201629392/ This photo shows a formation of brushite crystals resting on a bed of hydroxyapatite, observed under scanning electron microscopy. These calcium phosphate crystals were formed using a biomimetic process with the aim of developing novel materials for use in the medical devices industry. The images were coloured by adjusting the hue and saturation of selected areas in Adobe Photoshop.
