The University of Edinburgh is looking for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering with specialisation in Synthetic Biology research into the design, construction and validation of novel genetic devices.
The University of Edinburgh is looking for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering with specialisation in Synthetic Biology research into the design, construction and validation of novel genetic devices. This may include: development of the tools and infrastructure for the engineering of biology; development of supporting instrumentation and automation / miniaturisation technologies; delivery of a functional device for a real-world application of an engineered organism.
The successful candidate will be internationally prominent in Synthetic Biology or will demonstrate strong potential to be so. As a member of the Institute for Bioengineering, you will initiate, perform and deliver fundamental and applied research in Synthetic Biology that complements and integrates with other appropriate research areas in the School. You will work closely with colleagues in SynthSys, Edinburgh's Centre for Synthetic and Systems Biology Research, the MRC Centre for Regenerative Medicine as well as with other Edinburgh Schools. You will contribute to the development and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate taught degree programmes in Mechanical Engineering.
