Engineering Biology in Cambridge

This event is organised by the Cambridge University Synthetic Biology Society (CUSBS).

Dr Patrik Jones, Imperial College London will be presenting on metabolic engineering for industrial biotechnology applicatio

Synthetic metabolism is an extension to traditional metabolic engineering in which metabolic solutions that do not exist in nature are created through combination of existing enzymes and possibly complemented with those re-engineered. The potential solution space is vast, however, and the question is how we can facilitate the required discovery of parts and development of optimal solutions.

The talk will open with a brief discussion of whether and how white biotechnology can contribute towards improving our sustainability.
