Engineering Biology in Cambridge

SynbiCITE are running their next round of funding to help support small teams of researchers commercialise their synthetic biology projects. Teams will be invited to a two day retreat at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, where they can discuss business ideas, and pitch their projects.

This Proof-of-Concept (PoC) call invites small teams of 3 people to bring forward ideas and projects based around synthetic biology with the potential for commercialisation. Participants will be invited to attend a retreat at the Wellcome Sanger Institute in Cambridge on 26th and 27th May 2020. Over two days, the teams will be supported to develop their business ideas, culminating in a pitch and a written proposal. Projects will be reviewed by a committee and funding decisions made on an individual basis.

Projects can be submitted by university researchers, companies, relevant organisations, or collaborations between these sectors. Teams usually comprise, for example, 2 scientists/engineers plus 1 person with some basic business expertise. Two teams will be considered in each geographical area.

If you are based in the Cambridgeshire area, and are interested in submitting a project, please contact the SynBio IRC Coordinator, Stephanie Norwood at coordinator@synbio.cam.ac.uk
