[Closes 2 Feb 2017] Synthetic Biology for Transparent Materials

last modified Nov 29, 2016 04:47 PM

MOD are to invest up to £750k in Phase 1 of this new Centre for Defence Enterprise (CDE) competition. A further £1M will be made available for phase 2.

They are interested in new transparent materials that are thinner, lighter and offer better ballistic protection than currently available. At Phase 1, CDE are seeking highly innovative, ambitious proposals using synthetic biology approaches to produce transparent materials for defence and security applications in two technology challenges areas: (1) novel transparent materials; (2) adhesives & interlayer materials to use with transparent materials. A briefing will be held at the CDE Innovation Network event in London on 1 Dec 2016. A webinar will take place on 5 Dec 2016.
