[Apply by 6 Feb 2019] Postdoc position with Citizen Sense "AirKit" in Cambridge Dept. of Sociology

The Department of Sociology in the University of Cambridge is seeking to appoint a full-time Post-Doctoral Research Associate to join the European Research Council (ERC) Proof of Concept funded research project 'AirKit', directed by Professor Jennifer Gabrys. The project is based within the Citizen Sense research project (https://citizensense.net) in the Cambridge Sociology Department. The Research Associate will contribute to the consolidation, testing and further development of an air quality monitoring toolkit for use by diverse communities. The Research Associate will contribute to the planning, coordination and hosting of events, and will conduct collaborative research to contribute to project publications for academic, policy and public audiences.

In addition to contributing to the development of a toolkit for use by a broad number of communities, the Research Associate will contribute to the analysis, development and research into different practices for presenting and narrating citizen data in relation to air quality. The Research Associate will develop and integrate their own research into the project by developing work that investigates different participatory strategies for participatory toolkits and data visualisation.

The successful candidate should have a PhD in a relevant field, expertise in the social study of digital technology (especially sensors) and citizen participation, good writing abilities and the ability to work as part of a team.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 1 year from 1st May 2019 until 30th April 2020.
