Micrographia Bio is a London-based, next-generation drug-discovery startup. We operate at the intersection between cell biology, machine-learning, and engineering, in order to tackle one of the hardest problems in drug discovery.

We are adding a Molecular Biology Engineer to our multi-disciplinary engineering team, which consists of experts across a range of disciplines, from some of the finest institutions in the world.

  • Engineering the molecular tools and libraries that drive our technology forward

  • Designing, implementing, and leading automated large-scale screening experiments as part of our cross-disciplinary engineering team.

  • Communicating theoretical, practical, and experimental molecular biology knowledge to a collaborative team


Must haves

  • PhD in a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience

  • Ability to think critically and adapt in a fast-paced start-up environment

  • Extensive experience in molecular cloning

  • Experience with large-scale screening experiments

  • Basic bioinformatics or virtual cloning skills (e.g. using open source, proprietary software)

  • Excellent technical communication skills

Should haves

  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Synthetic Biology, Cell Biology, Microbiology, or Immunology

  • Experience in engineering and utilising clonal libraries for large-scale screening experiments (e.g. siRNA, etc)

  • Proficient bioinformatics skills

  • Preprints or peer-reviewed publications that demonstrate synthetic molecular biology expertise

  • Post-doctoral and/or industry experience

Nice to haves

  • BSL2 cell culture experience

  • Experience in multiplexed experimentation (e.g. pooled screens, scRNA-Seq, etc)

  • Basic programming in Python or a curiosity to learn

  • Experience in cell biology & fluorescent microscopy
