In this session we will explore the political economy of open IP in emerging technologies, particularly green technologies that could accelerate sustainability transitions.
Political economy is the study of interactions between markets and politics; the influence of markets on politics and the influence of policy on markets. Economic and innovation policy can incentive or disincentivise sharing knowedge and technologies. They can also change the conditions under which these open approaches to intellectual property and related collaborative practices like peer production might lead to societal change.
