Our researchers are exploring the use of robotics and automation in biological research. This will enable reproduction and scalability of engineering biology solutions.

Automating biological research and innovation is a growing interest. Automation allows scalability and high-throughput processing of biological systems. This is important for advancing research, as well as for rapidly prototyping new biotechnologies. Successful examples of automated biological research are exemplified by the growing number of Biofoundries being established globally.

Researchers at Cambridge are exploring the use of robotics and automation in biological research. This includes the use of open-source automation platforms such as Opentrons.
